on quitting

It’s usually not good to be a quitter but sometimes you have to quit certain things to be successful in other areas.  In some circumstances quitting can be a good thing.

I quit lots of things to become a professional photographer.

I quit:

  • School
  • My job
  • Listening to naysayers
  • Wasting time
  • Being selfish
  • Art direction
  • Living in Florida

The thing is quitting is good when you quit the right things at the right time.  For more information on knowing when to quit and when to push on, you have to read The Dip.

You also quit making dinner. I didn’t see that one on the list. : )

It’s like you can read minds. First it was the post on naysayers that I really needed to read and now this. I am quitting my job on Friday with the intentions of photographing across the country or moving to LA. Thanks again for the great post.
